Thanks to our friends at Metrowize.com for the shout out! Who doesn't love a little free press every know and then?

Well we just kicked off our Earth Hour 2009 Celebration here at The Ambrose! The place looks beautiful and we are so proud to be sending such a powerful and positive message to all of our guests and visitors! Stay tuned in the days to come for pictures and videos of the event. Until then - enjoy the dark!

Although we were saddened to hear that our favorite PLENTY magazine has recenlty folded we were so pleased to discover that the Mother Nature Network would be home to their archives.

The good folks over at Reuseniks hate platic bags. They hate them so much they came up with the Clothesnik, a 100% cotton garment bag made specifically for those who love to dry clean but hate to pollute. Designed with a drawstring at the bottom and zipper down the front, just bundle your dirty clothes in the Clothesnik to the dry cleaners or laundry, and they come back clean and ready to go hanging in the same bag. Just like a regular garment bag, but better. For you, your neighbor, the world. Just say no to plastic bags with the Clothesnik.

This is not just a fashion statement but a fashion (and future) necessity. Use it for travel, personalize it, give it as a gift and don't forget to tell your friends!

In the mood for a good ol' fashioned St.Paddy's day pub crawl?

The Ambrose proudly welcomes One Planet runners, Matt Hill and Stephanie Tait!

The Run for One Planet 2008/2009 North America Tour is their kick-off initiative - a carbon neutral year-long run around the continent in the hopes of inspiring grassroots Environmental Action. Matt and Steph's goal is to run 1 marathon each per day, inspire 1 million new Actions for Earth and raise $1 Million for our Legacy of Action. To do this, they will be running approximately 11,000-miles (or 17,700 km) into communities, towns, and cities to meet with, speak to, and inspire people to take simple daily actions. To improve our Planet's environment they know that "Small Steps Add Up" and that collectively we can each make a difference in our quest to improve ourselves and our environment. They hit the pavement from Vancouver on May 4th 2008.

These two dedicated eco activists will be calling The Ambrose home for the next few days, trading in their 28 foot for RV for our more comfortable guestrooms and catching up on some much needed rest!

For more information on how you can help their cause please visit www.runforoneplanet.com.

The Environmental Film Festival transforms the movie screen into a window to the world for audiences to wonder at the beauty, bear witness to injustice, and gather the righteous energy to make things better. Gawain Kripke, Oxfam America

In it's 17th year with more then 52 venues, 141 films and nearly 25,000 viewers Washington, DC's Environmental Film Festival is back!

From their website:

"As the first decade of the 21st century closes, the Environmental Film Festival marks its 17th year in Washington, D.C. with an astounding diversity of films that capture the majesty of our world and address the ever-increasing threats to life on earth. The 2009 Festival spotlights earth’s final frontier, the ocean, source of all life, covering nearly three quarters of the globe but less known than the surface of the moon. Please join us this March to explore our water planet through the Festival’s 140 films, enhanced with the perspectives and knowledge of over 50 filmmakers and 72 special guests who will be on hand for the Festival.

At the end of the decade, the green revolution continues and the Environmental Film Festival, an early proponent, is happy to be part of it. The expanding scope of the green mindset is indicated by the extent to which the leading thinkers of our day are turning their attention to the environment. The Festival features Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Hedrick Smith speaking on toxins in our waterways at the Newseum and foreign policy expert Strobe Talbott proposing how the international community can best deal with climate change, at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. As we at the Environmental Film Festival believe, the environment must concern and engage us all."

Rocky is currently finishing his forthcoming 5th studio album to be released in late 2009. He is also slated to be seen and heard alongside Bono in the video and song
remake of “War /No more Trouble” for Playing for Change to be released by Concord Music later this year.
